The 3 years(6 semesters) UG programme in Sociology with History and Political sciences as the Complementary subjects aims to provide a systematic introduction to the science of Sociology. The curriculum includes 15 sociology core courses (papers) distributed in 6 semesters in addition to the common courses of English and Second language. In Semester 5 students have to choose and study one Open Course offered by other departments. A Project Study is also included in Semester 5. The programme in Sociology emphasis on the Fundamentals, Theoretical and Methodological aspects of sociology. Importance is also given to the sociology of Indian society. The students are exposed to divergent perspectives with Sociology and acquire the necessary skills to understand various social phenomena through the perspectives of Sociology.
